Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, case number, or other term entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Lyon County Court Docket does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission may be kept as long as needed to respond. Messages are not voluntarily disclosed outside the organization, although disclosure may occur when a valid legal duty requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may automatically receive basic technical and usage information:
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate visit duration
- Referring website, when available
- Date and time associated with each page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic patterns, including popular pages and where visits end. Analytics providers help aggregate that usage information. Browser controls can block cookies, although disabling them may change how some site features operate.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving site performance
- Routing a search submission to the selected outside provider
- Measuring which content readers use
- Diagnosing errors and other technical faults
- Displaying advertising that may reflect inferred interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Lyon County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of dockets or personal case records. It publishes general directions to Kansas Judicial Branch CaseSearch, the Lyon County District Court, the Fifth Judicial District, and the Clerk of the District Court. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party case profiles, and this resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes that appear on some pages. Information entered there is governed by the provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and disclosure practices rather than this policy. Review those terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Lyon County clerk, Fifth Judicial District, Kansas court portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's own privacy terms control. Read them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to recognize activity across websites and select ads. That processing takes place through provider systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Outside search providers processing a submitted query
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving page advertisements
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so protection against every unauthorized access or breach cannot be promised.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as having been submitted by a minor may be removed.
Your Data Rights
Applicable Kansas privacy and consumer-protection law may provide additional rights concerning personal data. The Kansas Open Records Act governs requests to Kansas public bodies and courts, not private visitor-data requests to this site. Subject to applicable law, a user may:
- Request access to personal information held about you
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask for deletion where the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of eligible processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. Any revision will be posted here with a new effective date and will apply from that date forward.
